Divinely Right

I'ma rhyme this time and make it well known
that this week's D'var is about house and home.
Sig Nu gave AEPi a house of our own,
providing a blessing and a curse.

So let's right here start with the worst
case scenario of croakies, and oakleys and rainbow sandals,
drinking beer, spiking drinks and becoming vandals.
This outcome's unlikely but please understand —
our fate, it resides in our very own hands,
provided that choice by the god of all lands,
like the Jews before Moses when they all took a stand.

In Nitzavim, they came together in clans.
Moses addressed them and made sure they knew
that every one of them helped as the religion it grew,
and they needd to be there with every fiber of being.
Moses, he made sure that each one was seeing
the options presented and thought before fleeing
about choosing life and prosperity without temerity.
See that divine image allows for right choices inherently —
It's just a matter of following through,
so I'mina spell out just what we need to do.

It's remain aware of everything in this room
And what we've to build it and fill it
with the sweet-smelling perfume
of brotherhood, unity and Jewish values in bloom,
as we refuse to presume that things will just happen
if we stand aside and don't take any action.
